Saturday's NBA Picks

April 2, 2005

Home Team in CAPS

Ant's Picks

Last Night: (3-0), Week: (10-2-1)

  • PORTLAND +6.5 over Denver
  • NEW ORLEANS +9 over Miami

I'm taking Portland primarily due to the shadiness of this line. The Nuggets have been on fire, winning 8 of 9 and are 14-2-1 against the spread (ATS) in their last 17. So tonight in playing a Blazers team that has lost 9 of 10, 6.5 would seem a bit small. The Blazers played tough last night in Seattle and I can see the Nugs getting a bit cocky tonight. DEN 103, PORT 101. For the other game, Paul brought up the fact that the Hornets had only 30 points half way throught the third, yet they still managed to beat the Rockets. They have been playing tough lately (2-1), with their only defeat a one-point loss vs. Cleveland. The Heat are going in the other direction, showing everyone across the NBA they are human. I just like the Hornets to play tough tonight because if they somehow managed to win this game it could give them a much needed boost into next season. MIA 97, NOR 94. GLTA

Paul's Picks

Last Night: (3-2), Week: (10-4-1)

  • SAN ANTONIO -8.5 over Lakers
  • Charlotte +9 over CHICAGO
  • PORTLAND +6 over Denver

The Lakers are TERRIBLE and Pop will get the Spurs going tonight after a miserable performance in Denver last night. This is a game the Spurs can't afford to mess around with, so expect a rather convincing victory. Charlotte has played the Bulls tough all 3 times this season despite losing all three. The Bulls still aren't capable of blowing anyone away, so I think the 'Cats can cover tonight's spread even though they likely won't win. I agree with Anthony entirely on that Portland line, especially considering everyone is taking the Nuggets. If there's one thing we've learned this season, it's to go with Vegas anytime you see a shady line and everyone's going with the "obvious" pick. Good luck tonight.
