Wednesday's NBA Picks

May 11, 2005

Home Team in CAPS

Anthony's Picks:

Last Night: (0-0), Playoffs: (17-27-3)
  • DETROIT -8.5 over Indiana
  • PHOENIX -6.5 over Dallas

-I'm busy working on my next article which should be done by tomorrow, so excuse the tardiness on my picks.

Paul's Picks:

Last Night: (2-0), Playoffs: (21-25-3)

  • DETROIT -8.5 over Indiana
  • PHOENIX -6.5 over Dallas

-Indiana just looked completely overmatched in Game 1 and I'm not sure what adjustments they can make coming into tonight to be able to give the Pistons a game on their home floor (another brawl maybe?). If JO, Fred Jones, and Tinsley were all healthy, they could do a better job of speeding the pace up, but even then Detroit would still find a way. Detroit's only real weakness is their depth, but at this point, Indiana's bench isn't exactly anything special to write about either. Yup, they're screwed. I do think they keep it closer tonight, but not enough to pose a threat. PISTONS 93, PACERS 83

-Dallas has to slow the game down tonight and find a way to limit Amare, which essentially means getting him into foul trouble. I don't blame Dirk at all for calling out Dampier-- he knows how important he is to this series. If Dampier can stay on the floor and establish himself on the offensive glass and draw a few fouls from Amare, Dallas can absolutely win this game. But we're talking about Erick freaking Dampier! If the game comes down to Dampier vs. Amare, I think we all know who's going to win. The Mavericks' only other hope is if they shoot lights out, and I mean 60% because it doesn't look like they can limit the Suns to less than 115 points. SUNS 119, MAVERICKS 107
