June 1, 2005

Home Team in CAPS

Anthony's Pick:

Last Night: (0-1)

Ant's too busy working on mlbsource.com. By the way, if anyone wants to write for either blog, let us know. We could use some help as we head into the early stages of building the Sources into a website.

Paul's Pick:

Last Night: (1-0)
  • San Antonio +3 over PHOENIX

-Phoenix showed me a lot Monday night when they pulled together after San Antonio caught up in the 4th and played some stellar defense in order to fend off the Spurs and push the series back to the Desert for a 5th game. Nevertheless, I'm not picking them to win tonight. The Spurs have just been too dominant in this series for me to think that Phoenix can put together another effort like they did in Game 4. To the Suns credit, they played with a sense of urgency that we had not seen from them all series, but to expect them to repeat such a display is a tall order, especially against a superior team. Remember, Duncan shot 15-15 from the line in Game 3, and just 3-12 on Monday and they lost by 5 points. I anticipate him shooting a little better tonight, at least good enough that he won't allow it to be the difference between a win and a loss again. I won't be surprised if Phoenix pulls out a win tonight, but I will guarantee you this much-- the series will not go beyond 6. In the history of the NBA Playoffs, no team has ever come back from down 3-0 to win a series, and only 1 team has come back to send the series into a 7th game. Plus we're talking about the well-coached, disciplined Spurs-- the Patriots of the NBA if you will. But none of this talk is going to matter anyways because San Antonio will slam the door shut on Phoenix tonight. SPURS 114, SUNS 109
