Swift Decision

In a somewhat surprising move, Stromile Swift has decided to join Yao Ming and the Rockets by signing on with Houston for their mid-level exception (5 years, $4.9m per) according to the Houston Chronicle. Stro easily could have landed more money from teams like the Hornets, Kings (via sign and trade), Nets (sign and trade), and Hawks, but ultimately decided that the lure of contending in Houston and having a chance to start alongside Yao and T-Mac was just too much for him. The Rockets have to be thrilled-- Stro is the type of player who should flourish in Houston with all of the dunks and weak-side blocks he'll be the benefactor of. Jeff Van Gundy said last night in Minnesota that all the Rockets needed was more athleticism upfront and some youth in order to contend for a title next season-- they got both in the form of Stromile Swift.

i like the move, stro wont really have to worry about offense, outside of dunking, and he'll make a killing on the boards with all the attention paid to yao

plus, it will be one less person to posterize yao!

The posterization era on Yao is OVER!
I love this move. Keeping my fingers crossed though because Stro hasn't sign a single paper yet but I hope this all works out. Stupid lockout has me worried but going for the gold.
Rockets are definitley title contenders. It will be interesting to see how they handle the expectations!
