Monday's Picks

November 7, 2005

Home Team in CAPS

Anthony's Picks:

Last Night: (3-0); Last Week: (30-15), Season: (30-15)
  • Cleveland -5.5 over TORONTO
  • MIAMI -2.5 over New Jersey
  • Utah +1 over CHARLOTTE
  • LA Clippers +5.5 over MINNESOTA
  • San Antonio -4.5 over CHICAGO

--Cleveland had a very rough end to their Week 1 of the season. After getting smoked in San Antone, they dropped a close one to Memphis--a game they actually led heading into the 4th quarter. I expect Mike Brown to have his boys back on track tonight against a dreadful Raptors team. 5.5 seems way too low for this game, but I'm still going with the Cavs. CLE 102, TOR 90

--Miami played very well on Saturday without Shaq. They led the game for three quarters, but just couldn't hold on against a very tough Bucks squad. I love the Heat at home tonight especially playing a Nets team that just isn't on the same page yet. MIA 99, NJN 93

--The one game in which Utah struggled to control the tempo was against Phoenix, a ball club almost everyone fails at keeping pace with. And while Brevin Knight does a nice job of establishing his style of play, I think that Utah will eventually wear this young 'Cats team down. UTH 97, CHA 92.

--I don't think Minnesota is ready to cover 5.5 points against solid Western Conference teams. As Paul and I discussed the other day, Minny is not a very deep ball club at this point and in my opinion, don't have the fire power to beat the Clippers by more than a handful. MIN 94, LAC 92

--Can you really imagine the Spurs dropping two straight? Better yet, can you see them coming out tonight without being utterly disgusted with themselves after getting smoked in Big D on Saturday. San Antonio on a mission = double-digit victory. SAS 102, CHI 89

GOOD LUCK

Paul's Picks:

Last Night: (2-1), Last Week: (23-22), Season: (23-22)

  • Cleveland -5.5 over TORONTO
  • MIAMI -2.5 over New Jersey
  • Utah +1 over CHARLOTTE
  • LA Clippers +5.5 over MINNESOTA
  • San Antonio -4.5 over CHICAGO

Anthony and I have the same picks tonight, so I'm not going to waste your time explaining my picks thoroughly. Just some quick thoughts...

--I still think the Cavs will struggle on the road, but this is one game they shouldn't have a problem winning. CLE 109-100

--Miami has New Jersey's number with or without Shaq. MIA 105-99

--It's time for Charlotte to step back into reality. Utah is the ideal time to pull them back in. UTA 92-87

--Minnesota must be thrilled to be back home after suffering two heart-breaking losses on the road. I think they'll get even with the Clips tonight, but won't cover. MIN 90-88

--The Bulls' undersized frontline will be exposed tonight against a San Antonio team coming off an embarrasing loss to rival Dallas. SA 97-92
