Wednesday's Picks

November 16, 2005

Home Team in CAPS

Ant's Picks:

Last Night: (6-5); Week: (8-6); Season: (66-42)

  • TORONTO +5 over Philadelphia
  • BOSTON -5.5 over Seattle
  • Indiana -8.5 over CHARLOTTE--LOCK
  • Denver -3.5 over NEW ORLEANS/OKC
  • PHOENIX -5 over Memphis
  • New York +6 over LA LAKERS
  • Chicago -2.5 over PORTLAND
  • Milwaukee +6 over GOLDEN STATE

Man, looks like Paul and I are going with the same exact picks tonight. I tried really hard to switch one of these, but nothing really makes sense. Now that Paul's finally over the .500 mark maybe we can make this a weekly competition with our readers. I'll discuss it with Mr. Benedict and get back to you. Unfortunately I have no time for analysis tonight...back tomorrow with the West Fantasy Report.

Paul's Picks:

Last Night: (9-2); Week: (12-2); Season: (56-52)

  • TORONTO +5 over Philadelphia
  • BOSTON -5.5 over Seattle
  • Indiana -8.5 over CHARLOTTE
  • Denver -3.5 over NEW ORLEANS/OKC
  • PHOENIX -5 over Memphis
  • New York +6 over LA Lakers
  • Chicago -2.5 over PORTLAND
  • Milwaukee +6 over GOLDEN STATE

--Toronto WILL win its first game this evening in the back-end of a home-and-home with Philly. You wait and see. TOR 107-106

--The Celts clubbed the Sonics in both meetings last year when Seattle actually played like an NBA team. It's getting reeeeaaallly ugly in Starbucks land. BOS 108-94

--Indiana is going to be hungry tomorrow night after that gut-wrenching loss in Milwaukee on Saturday. The Bobcats are in the unfortunate position of having to travel after a tough one in Orlando to now being Indiana's feast for the night. The Pacers are undoubtedly licking their chops. IND 101-83

--Both Denver and NO/OKC lost very closely-contested contests last night, so both will be gunning to avoid a double setback. I think the Nuggets are going to begin to play with more of a sense of urgency with first place in the Northwest there for the taking. Look for them to make a move over the next couple of weeks. DEN 99-91

--Phoenix manhandled the Grizzlies in the Playoffs last year because they dictated the tempo for 48 minutes of each game. No reason to think they can't do the same this year against a still-slow Memphis team. PHX 108-102

--The Knicks are playing great defense and the Lakers have really been struggling to get their offense going. This is actually a big game for both teams at this point, so expect a neck-and-neck battle. I'll take the hometown Lakers by a hair. LAL 92-90

--Nobody would be talking about the Bulls' horrific 1-38 Circus Road Trip if they weren't surprised by it, and I don't believe in curses, so it's going to end sometime. Chicago's D will end the streak tonight by shutting down a limited Portland squad. CHI 85-80

--The Warriors took down the Bucks on their own turf last week, so look for a reversal of fortune tonight. Milwaukee will have extra motivation as they attempt to rebound from a shellacking last night in LA. MIL 106-104
