Warriors the Front-Runners for Artest?

"Yeaaaah, Cali bud!"

ESPN's Ric Bucher (no 'k') has reported that a potential RonArtest to Golden State for Troy Murphy and Mickael Pietrus is on the table. As of 10 PM EST, Warriors' GM Chris Mullin had yet to comment on this deal, but it appears that Warriors have taken the early lead in the race for Ronnie. Also, the Clippers have dropped out of the running, while the Wolves and Nuggets remain very interested. Carmelo Anthony has been reported to have called Artest as well as Denver management to endorse the deal. More to come...

yeahh. im a huge fan of the warriors and would love to see ron up in there. but i would rather them trade dunleavy, because murphy is arguably their most solid rebounder.

Dunleavy has one of the most undesirable contracts in the entire league. Plus, why would Indy want to trade a Tru Warier for a Geno Auriemma All-Star?

Let's face it, the Pacers are in a bit of a bind s its unlikely they'll get fair value for Artest's talent -- if the Pacers can get Pietrus and Murphy for Artest, they should do it in a heartbeat.

I live in SF and while Artest would spice things up a bit, the thought of him on the Warriors scares the hell out of me!

I too live in SF and am a Warrior season ticket holder. I'm skeptical of the whole Artest thing. Sure he is one hell of a great player and could propel the warriors to the top, BUT we'd be giving up what I think are two of the most important pieces around baron and rich. Murhpy and Pietrus are underrated and bring a lot to our team. And i'm worried what Artest would do to our chemistry. I guess its a risk we would have to take but, I too am worried.

Ron is a player that will kill the team chimisty and would be another Owens (49ers). I would still take the trade and since the T wolves are still interested in him I would try to turn and make a deal for Garnet. Garnet has made it clear that he does not want to play with Wally, even if we dont make the playoffs this year could you imagine next season with the starting line up of Davis /Richardson/Garnet WOW

And maybe you could move Michael Olowokandi for Shaq and Marko Jaric for LeBron James. Davis, J-Rich, LeBron, Garnet(t), Shaq, WOW

(My life would be so dull without sarcasm)
